Having read the ‘ Not Browsing but Reading’ article by Adrian Shaughnessy, I was inspired by a number of quotes: ‘gap-toothed rawness of HTML text’; ‘the mediating effect of the computer screen itself’ and ‘On the internet little of this precision is possible’. I then looked at computer text as well as HTML programs and MS Dos. The editorial layouts were designed as if they were windows with bits of HTML code. It looked very much like a computer screen from the 90s with the pixelated bitmap text as if it was a computer screen from the 90s with bitmap text and html coding. I felt that this was very dynamic and helped make the article more exciting.
Editorial Beyond The Page
Editorial layout design of the 'Not browsing but reading' article by Adrian Shaugnessy. The original article was published in issue 36 of Eye Magazine, Summer 2000. As well as an editorial layout, an AR motion graphic was designed so that when viewers would scan the page, the layout would come to life.
